About Snug Fibre & Knits

Out of the depths of a long winter came a serious passion. We love fibres of all types, and strive to bring a luscious fibre experience to others.

Snug F&K is a small business dedicated to making fibre and blends from scratch - right from raw fleece. All hand processed fibre is Canadian sourced, most of it not far from the studio.

Two snuggly Angora rabbits live with us and keep us in good supply of extra soft Angora fibre.

We strive to be environmentally sustainable by using low BOD detergent, using spent wash and dye water to irrigate the lawn and garden, and exhausting all dye baths. Waste wool is used as mulch in the veggie garden. Our packaging is comprised of recyclable materials as much as possible.

Hand Prepped Fibre

We prepare a lot of fibre by hand one fleece at a time.

Hand combs, hand cards, a drum carder, and a lake view are all that are needed to turn a dirty fleece into a beautiful fibre preparation.

Hand prepped fibre may be kept as pure species wool, or blended with other hand prepped or commercial fibres to create luxurious blends.

Hand Spun Yarn

This little wheel spins most evenings.

A little twist is all it takes to make beautiful yarn.

Single breed yarn from local farms, or unique exotic blends.

Hand spun yarn is full of bounce and bring your garments unique life and texture. Try knitting with some hand spun, you’ll love it!

Hand Spun Yarn

Hand spun yarns have a liveliness unequalled among commercial yarns. Hand spun has spring, and adds texture and interest to the final garment. Working with beautiful hand spun is an amazing experience.

Yarn weight is determined by averaging several measurements throughout the skein. There is natural variation in weight over the skein, and this is part of the appeal of hand spun yarn.

Hand Dyed Yarn

Yarn dyed by hand in small batches allows for colour play that is simply amazing.

Colourways can be repeated, but as always, it is best to order the quantity required for a pattern to ensure the highest level of consistency throughout your project. Colours may vary slightly from batch to batch.

Photos are taken in natural light when possible, and are only adjusted if the colour is not showing true in the picture. We try our best to make each product appear as it does in real life. Please keep in mind that each monitor is different, and colours may vary slightly from their online photos.
